Jeroen Smits is scientific director of SciRev and associate professor at the department of Economics of Radboud University Nijmegen (RUN). He studied sociology and psychology at RUN and obtained a PhD in sociology of this university in 1996. Since then he has worked at Utrecht University, University of Amsterdam and the Dutch National Institute of Public Health and the Environment. His major research interests are (all forms of) inequality, development, social cohesion, database building and the development of knowledge instruments. Smits has published about 50 research papers in a broad range of scientific fields, including demographics, economics, sociology, public health, medicine and human biology.
Janine Huisman is executive director of SciRev. She studied economics at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and anthropology at the Free University of Amsterdam. In 2011 she obtained a PhD in economics at the Radboud University Nijmegen (RUN). She is an associated researcher at the Centre for International Development Issues Nijmegen (CIDIN). Before that she worked for Oikos, an NGO in the development corporation field, and NIBE-SVV, the educational institute for the Dutch financial sector. Her major research interests include educational and gender inequality, economic development, anthropology and parental altruism.
